My Magazine Development

Most pop-music magazines have short, snappy and stylish names that attract the audience and cause their name/brand to be remembered by the audience. Examples of this are magazines like "Q" and "SPIN".

Some of the words that I have found that suit music magazines are:

• Steezy
• Incognito
• Dope
• Fresh
• Blaze
• Elite
• Beat

BEAT Magazine

I have decided to call my popular music magazine "BEAT Magazine".  I have chosen this name for several reasons. Firstly, it is a short name which makes it easier for my target audience to remember. Although all the names above are short and easy to remember, "BEAT" does not alienate people who are not up to date with the modern trends as some of the older people of my target audience might not know what "Dope" and "Steezy" means. The word "Beat" also positively connotes music so it makes it easier for my target audience to identify that this is a music magazine.

The cropped version of this photo is included on my final front cover. I used Photoshop to remove the background and flip it which created an effective image to put alongside a lure for my magazine on the front cover.
